YouTube TV Introduces New Library Layout, Sparks Mixed Reactions
YouTube TV has rolled out a fresh library design, aiming to address one of the main criticisms regarding its DVR programs and on-demand options. The updated library relocates menus to the top of your TV screen, eliminating the previous left or middle placement options based on your device. Additionally, menu names have been revamped, with the "shows" tab now labeled as "series." Notably, titles are now sorted based on what YouTube TV predicts you're most likely to watch, departing from the traditional alphabetical order.
This revamped guide is currently available on Apple TV devices and is expected to extend to other platforms soon. However, early user reactions on Reddit suggest a negative response to the changes.
In another recent update, YouTube TV has altered its channel guide functionality. Instead of consistently returning users to the top of the guide, the modification now brings you back to the last channel you watched. This adjustment allows for a more seamless transition, letting you pick up where you left off in the YouTube TV live guide without the need to scroll down to the bottom every time.
As of now, there doesn't appear to be an option to disable this feature. While some users appreciate the convenience, others who have curated custom guides with favorites at the top may prefer the guide to default back to its original behavior, returning to the top upon exiting a live channel.
